History and heritage.
Woolbrook Homestead, built in 1856, has been a cornerstone of Australian farm life for generations. Originally constructed with local bluestone, the homestead's rich history began with pastoralist James Bell, the first editor of the Geelong Advertiser. Over the years, it became home to five generations of the Morrison family, who have lovingly maintained and enhanced its historic charm. In 1909, sisters Annie and Christina Morrison purchased the property, establishing a family legacy that included the planting of thousands of native trees, creating a sanctuary for local wildlife.
In 2019, Lachie Morrison and his partner Anise Boulot leased the homestead back from a new owner, embarking on a meticulous renovation to restore its former glory. They stripped back spaces to their original bones, preserving period details such as wood paneling, wide oak floorboards, and leadlight windows. The renovation has transformed Woolbrook into an elegant and luxurious farm stay, offering guests a unique blend of rustic charm and modern comforts. Lachie Morrison, who grew up on Woolbrook Homestead, and his partner Anise Boulot are the passionate custodians of this historic property. When Lachie's father sold the farm in 2019, the couple saw an opportunity to preserve and share its legacy. They leased the homestead back from the new owner and spent two years meticulously renovating it, blending its historic charm with modern luxury. Both Lachie and Anise are deeply connected to the land, with Lachie managing the farm's agricultural operations and Anise overseeing the accommodation and events.

At Woolbrook Homestead, sustainability and animal welfare are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to run a flock of non-mulesed Merino ewes, with our wool earning ZQRX & RWS certification, allowing us to partner with ethical brands like Icebreaker, Kowtow, and Rodd & Gunn.
Our commitment to the environment extends to our collaboration with the Koala Clancy Foundation, which has planted over 16,000 native trees and shrubs on our property since 2020.
